Odan Series 2 : Becoming

'Odan' is an Esan word which translates to 'struggle' in English language. .
The title of this piece is 'becoming'.
Most often, in our journey of becoming, there are usually huddles we often need to jump across; battles we must fight. Today, there are many voices. We are in the age of information. Everybody has a 'broadcasted' opinion about everything and who you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to do. There are these set of 'standards' the society has set in place that we must live up to and when that is not the case, depression and desperation set in. Should these standards define us? And there's that battle within; the constant battle of choosing between what is and what is not, what resonate with our essence and what doesn't. Let not our own voice be overshadowed. .
Often when we set out to achieve anything, the universe usually throws its hands of trial upon us. These hands could hurt sometimes. But one thing I've realised is, it is doing so to test our will power; how ready and serious we are about what we set out to achieve. These hands from the dark keep pulling us back even as we approach the light. As soon as the universe realises the power of our resolution, it frees to achieve them. This teaches me that courage the power of all virtues.

In all, our 'odan' should make us humans that we are; we should be more compassionate knowing we all have battles we are fighting.

Should time tell if we will win or our resolution to?

Paradox . A paradox is often defined as a self-contradictory statement which can only be true if it is false. In the third installment of the Ogbanje Series; "paradox," which is the title of this piece, talks about a person. . Life is an Ogbanje in itself because it is full of contradictions. It's amazing how we only get to live when we leave ourself to the possibility of death. Isn't it a wonder to see that we only get to really enjoy the beauty, harmony, joy in friendship whenever we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. An Ogbanje is one who lives through these paradoxes. Life can be messy sometimes, our hearts get twisted by love. But how else do we live if we don't open our hearts to the possibility of of death; hurts and agony? . Broken Utopia . How long shall we hope? To halt one's hope, does it mean one is weak? Must we hope all the time? How powerful is our hope? These questions rush through one's mind like a high current flow of the river. This art isn't to necessarily provide answers but to help us navigate through these questions and more.
